Do you subscribe to RSS?

I have used several RSS readers in the past and my favorite one is NetNewsWires that is put out by NewsGator. NetNewsWire (http://www.newsgator.com/Individuals/Default.aspx) is one of the many clients that are available for reading RSS feeds. For instance: I have the NetNewWire for the iPhone, I use the Outlook plug-in clint on my desktop, and the web version (they also have a stand-a-lone client also). They all require that you have an account with NewGator and they are all sync. That is the sweet part of it. It I read a message / feed on the iPhone, it is marked as read on the web as well as in Outlook. You can manage your RSS feeds from the web or the desktop client. I use the web version to add and remove feeds and have them automatically updated on the iPhone. There are several other ways to add feeds. NewsGator also is not selfish, it will allow you to export your feeds to anthor (say Google) and vice versa. The only drawback I found was that the present verions (1.0.7) does not allow (currently) me to download full articles for offline reading.

Pros: Free (Client and service), Groupings, Marking who groups as read : Cons: No Offline viewing of full articles

The other RSS reader I like is:

VirtueSoft – I have not had the ability to purchase, download, and evalute. So far reading it on the App store, kinda impressive. Two apps in one Blogging and RSS. I do see that it supports geo-tagging for photos.

Looking over the iTunes store today. I found a nice little (the are all little) app called Computer Inventory.

You can store detail / important information about your computers in one place.

You can find it on the App Store under the Business section.

What trips me out, the developer wants $3.99 or $5.99 for an app that should be say $.99 or better (free). This should at least support SNMP and niff out the hardware.

Nullriver, Inc. has released NetShare onto the iTunes App Store this evening (via iPhone Alley). The $9.99 application promises to allow you to share your iPhone’s network connection with your computer.

Share your iPhone’s EDGE or 3G Internet connection with your computer using NetShare. NetShare provides a SOCKS5 proxy for your computer to connect to.

NetShare’s inclusion in the App Store is a curiosity, as Apple must have manually approved its inclusion. It’s unclear if the Application would go against AT&T user agreements. AT&T typically charges Smart Phone users $30/month extra to use tethering applications. Screenshots of the application’s instructions have been included here:

This application has been confirmed to work by multiple users. NetShare is available on the iTunes App Store.

Update: The application appears to have gone missing from the App Store. While the application listing still appears, if you try to purchase it now, iTunes says “The item you tried to buy is no longer available”.

Update 3: Developer reply:

No, this is not about A2DP being enabled on the iPhone. This is about why A2DP is not enabled and what I predict the reason being is that A2DP according to sources is a battery drain.

For this reason I do not understand is that the A2DP protocol has been used successfully on other mobile devices (for ex: Windows Mobile, Sony Ericisson) and has a long proven history. These mobile devices (PDA phones to be exact) have also maintain battery life.

There could be a couple of reasons for this:

1. Battery Drain

2. Control (could be ???)

3. Current version of the iPhone OS (currently at 10.4)

Apple Mac OSX 10.4 has no support for Bluetooth Stereo, but 10.5 does and it works like a charm.

A2DP hardware = yes
A2DP software = probably never.

I was checking out some the reviews about Jailbreak iPhones and found a number of users report that their battery life has suffered alot.

I have no plans to jailbreak my 3G, but I am searching a 2G iPhone. (Should have kept my orginal iPhone). Oh well.
